What our customers say about us

  • Incredible work from Oli at Emerald. Very thorough and talked me through every process to ensure I was informed and happy! • Hugely recommend Karl and the team at Emerald ECUs. They provide a very dedicated and knowledgeable service as well as an excellent ECU – going by my experience. I had my troublesome ECU replaced (made by another Norfolk company) by Emerald after Clive Atthowe Tuning in Norwich recommended Emerald to me. My classic Citroen is now a different car altogether – it is quieter, it pulls away more smoothly at low revs and I can put my foot down without the engine pinking. Some other minor glitches spotted by Karl were also fixed, for example the tachometer would not run with the old ECU. Plus I think the price was very reasonable considering how many hours they probably put into the swap, retune and minor fixes. My five-star rating and this description of how pleased I am with Emerald just touches the surface.

  • I bought a kit car recently with 2.0 zetec engine. it had a few issues, loss of power etc. The guys at Emerald were absolutely amazing. They fixed several problems, throttle not opening fully, faulty thermostat (they cad designed and laser cut a new gasket) and some other mechanical issues. They then remapped the K6 ECU and it comes out to 160bhp which I was over the moon with for a relatively stock engine with single throttle body plenum. It’s like a completely different car now, sounds better, runs better, no issues with idle anymore and the best part, it’s ridiculously fast and blew my socks off. Can’t thank everyone at Emerald enough, they stayed late to ensure everything was ironed out and running as it should. You won’t get better service than this anywhere in the country. The extra work they do to make sure your car is running to the best of its ability is second to none, some people online grumble at the cost for the day but I’d pay that twice over, don’t take it to a normal rolling road as remapping a car is useless if there are other issues restricting the cars performance. I’ll always take my cars to them now. A class service.

  • I went for a K6 ECU as they had been recommended by various friends and colleagues. It’s a fantastic option for a relative novice to this side of car building. The interface is brilliant and it is a really neat product. Best of all is the incredible customer service provided by the after sales team. Second to none.

  • I purchased a second-hand car in the last month which had been to Emerald 5 years ago (!) for mapping/tuning work. I reached out to Emerald just on the off chance they’d remember the car as I had some questions about the car and the map on it’s Emerald K6+ ECU and everyone at Emerald has been amazingly helpful. Karl and Dave have spent a not insignificant amount of time on email/phone/teamviewer with me to walk through the queries I had and helping me to resolve some issues. Absolutely fantastic service! 10/10

Engine Calibration Services on our rolling road

Based in Watton, Norfolk, we have our own workplace with a rolling road where we can provide various engine calibration services. Our rolling road is used in two ways, steady state mode for mapping and also in acceleration mode which allows the computer to produce repeatable power curves.

The rolling road measures a maximum of 330bhp at the wheels up to a speed of 160mph. Depending on transmission/tyre losses this equates to a maximum flywheel figure in the region of 360 – 390bhp. If necessary these figures can be doubled but any engine making over 500bhp will have traction problems.

The software logs the power output at 1mph intervals and can measure the power losses through the transmission and tyres using a coast-down test. The results can be plotted and extracted for further analysis.
